Who is Spencer?

Spencer Davison is a dedicated parent, community advocate, and proud Coalinga native. Born and raised in Coalinga, Spencer graduated from Coalinga High School in 2008 and has deep roots in the community he calls home. As a parent of two young children—one currently attending Coalinga-Huron Unified School District (CHUSD) and the other starting school next year—Spencer is running for Trustee of Area C2 because he understands firsthand the importance of having a strong voice on the board who represents the needs and concerns of parents and students.

Spencer’s candidacy is driven by a vision to create a more transparent and effective school district that works for everyone—students, parents, and educators alike. He believes that CHUSD should be a place where all staff feel valued and supported, where parents’ voices are truly heard, and where students are provided with the best opportunities to succeed.

Spencer’s top priorities include:

  • Bringing Transparency to the Board: Spencer is committed to making the board more accessible and accountable to the community. He believes in clear, honest communication and will push for initiatives like anonymous feedback channels for staff and regular surveys to better understand the needs of the district.

  • Addressing Teacher Recruitment and Retention: One of the biggest challenges facing CHUSD is the recruitment and retention of qualified teachers. Spencer will work tirelessly to address the issues contributing to high staff turnover and will advocate for better working conditions, competitive salaries, and support for professional development to make CHUSD a place where top educators want to build their careers.

  • Securing Funding for Infrastructure Improvements: Spencer is passionate about ensuring that our schools are safe and conducive to learning. He plans to engage local legislators to explore every available funding option to repair and modernize CHUSD’s aging school facilities. Additionally, Spencer will lead efforts to explore the possibility of constructing a new elementary school to accommodate the district’s growing student population.

With a personal stake in the future of our schools, Spencer Davison is ready to be a champion for students, parents, and educators. He brings a unique combination of lived experience, local knowledge, and a proven commitment to community advocacy that will help move the district forward.
